Jock Fistick of Axis-5 Images is an American freelance photographer based in Brussels, Belgium. His photographic assignments have taken him around the world. He has covered everything from hurricanes and space shuttle launches, to famine in Haiti, refugees fleeing Cuba and war in the Middle East. He's even had private audiences with Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama in India.
He gained his fascination with different cultures as a child while growing up as the son of a U.S. diplomat in Vietnam, Latin America and the Caribbean.
A 1984 graduate of The Ohio State University, Fistick started his photographic career stringing for the Associated Press. He worked as a staff photographer at newspapers in Ohio and Florida before moving to Europe in 1999 to begin his freelance career.
Fistick routinely travels throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia, on editorial and corporate assignments. His clients appreciate his unique style, and ability to consistently capture bold, graphic images in both natural and created light. He approaches covering editorial and corporate assignments with the same dedication and understanding of both the subject and his clients needs.
His photographs have been published internationally in a variety of newspapers, magazines and books: The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Financial Times, The Times of London, La Monde, Time, Newsweek, Paris Match, Der Spiegel, Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com and Wired.com, comprise just a few of Fistick's publication credits.
